Colour Palettes : Pinks
An occasional series focusing on the different colour palettes in my paintings.

I spend a good deal of time selecting colour palettes for each painting. My palettes are never quite the same painting to painting, and that is intentional.

The tones reflect my mood and what I find visually pleasing and complementary in the moment. They don't necessarily reflect the flowers I see in front of me or the vases or textiles.

I look for harmony within the palettes - A brighter tone or two, maybe a pastel, a darker shade, normally totalling 6 - 7 colours.

The frame choice to complement the colour palette is considered slowly. To me, a coloured frame is an extension of the painting itself, although I find myself thinking more about leaving the frame choice to the potential buyer of a painting.
