Part of a collection of paintings featuring hand-painted wooden flowers and a contemporary way of approaching traditional still-life painting.
Most recently I have explored painting onto laser-cut wood. The process is cyclical and considered, and draws directly from my own sketches. Each wooden flower is sketched digitally and then refined down into a vector illustration before being laser-cut locally in Cornwall.
I am interested in the effect of isolation and suspension that a traditional still life is given by picking out and painting the flora and then framing this inside its own box frame.
Commissions and specified frame colours are available on request, please just ask.
