Part of a collection of paintings featuring hand-painted wooden flowers and a contemporary way of approaching traditional still-life painting.
For this collection, painting onto laser-cut wood is explored. The process is cyclical and considered, and draws directly from my own sketches. Each wooden flower is sketched digitally and then refined down into a vector illustration before being laser-cut locally in Cornwall.
I am interested in the effect of isolation and suspension that a traditional still life is given by picking out and painting the flora and then framing this inside its own box frame. This painting frame is painted in Farrow & Ball Sizing.
Commissions and specified frame colours are available on request, please just ask.
